Philip Griffin

Philip has been the Senior Minister of St. Andrew’s Wahroonga since October 2004.  He is married to Sue and they have four children.  Their third child is severely disabled, but he still loves being at church.  Philip loves chocolate, old movies, listening to music, kayaking, walking with Sue and going to the beach.

Philip is a member of the Church Missionary Society NSW Candidates’ Committee.

Philip preaches on most Sundays.  He is committed to expository preaching of both the Old and New Testaments, as well as preaching on key doctrines from time to time. Philip oversees the training of Ministry Apprentices and those considering apprenticeships at St Andrew’s in the future. He also trains and supports the Bible Study leaders and other leaders who teach the Bible.

Philip has a weekly blog at http://philipgriffin.wordpress.com where he discusses doctrinal issues currently affecting the church in order to stimulate healthy debate among church leaders.

A Favourite Bible Verse: Romans 1:16 ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

This verse reminds me of my need to be saved and of the need to tell all other people God’s all-important news that they also need to be saved.

A Favourite Passage From the Bible In Times of Trouble Or Stress. 1 Peter 1:3-7.

The trials of suffering that come upon us are not the product of a random series of events outside of God’s control, but will be used by God to test and deepen our trust in him.

A Favourite Song: My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less Than Jesus Blood and Righteousness.

The words are great, reminding us that our hope in the Lord Jesus is certain because of what he has done.  I love singing it both to the traditional and the modern tunes.
